It's pretty shit freelance wise for everyone. The lack of invoices in my Xero account had me wondering if Xero will let me just suspend my account for a while because there's nothing going on but the rent in my freelance space right now. I am lucky I stumbled upon a part-time comms and marketing position via a friend of a friend this year. It's not what I love, but it's for an amazing cause and it pays the rent. Hang in there and keep writing :)
Oh, I would’ve thought Xero and MYOB would’ve given all of us breaks as a goodwill gesture during Covid. So great you have something that sounds satisfying to get you through. It’s good when that happens.
It's so frustrating though. Every couple of days I see another great copywriter or CD I know posting that they're looking for a gig. I'm sure the days will get brighter but geez!
I saw Tribute years ago at MIFF, thanks for the reminder, I remember it being hilarious when I saw it, the seriousness of those tribute bands can be next level.
I actually grew up in Glen Waverley and spent a lot of time in Noble Park with my German grandparents. Not sure where the dandy confusion came from, maybe it was me posting something to my close designer friend Wayne Joyce who’s from around there. Or from me talking about my cricket playing for Mulgrave for years where I played around Dandy a lot.

My mother lived Kelvinside Rd Noble Park.
Dad, Osborne Ave Springvale.
Uncle played full forward for Mulgrave.
Other uncle famous Redlegger: Pat Flaherty.
Fantastic! In cricket Sri Lankan captain Tillakaratne Dilshan was Mulgrave captain a few years ago.
Keep going, Double N.
What else do we underemployed have to do? It’s a bright spot during dark days.
Good for your writing muscles, too.
Try to sell it to a publisher. Get a friendly AD to design it and add more pix.
Dedicate it to Dave Weller.

Just so happens I've been playing around with doing this, one L Philip.

It’s so funny. I’m sure Jack Black based a lot of his character in school of rock on a few scenes in it. Didn’t know it played at MIFF.
Where did you grow up in Dandy?
I was Clow St (baby)
(Short detour out to Vermont). Then...
Olive St (2-4). Off Cleeland.
Hawdon St (4-10). Off McPhee's. Greenslopes (Pentridge)Primary.
Godfrey Crescent (10-12). Dandy North primary.
May Court (12-17). Near Stud and Heatherton. Worked at Red Rooster on the corner.
Then Parkdale...
